What we welcome

We are interested in thoughtful explainers, comparisons, reflective histories, clear-eyed discussions of common assumptions and seasonal ideas readers can adapt. Strong proposals focus on one distinct question and offer a useful angle rather than a broad survey.

A good pitch

Tell us the working title, central idea, intended reader and what makes the piece worth reading now or returning to later. Mention the form you have in mind and any sources or permissions the piece would need. Keep claims proportionate and avoid relying on invented experience.

Originality and fit

Pitches should be original, carefully written and relevant to the publication. Disclose any commercial interest or previous publication. We may edit accepted work for clarity, length and house style, and will discuss substantial changes with contributors.
